Two Reasons not to perform an Early Pregnancy Test

Believe it or not in this day of instant everything there are reasons why you may not want to perform an early pregnancy test. In the following paragraphs, we'll take a look at 2 reasons not to rush to find out if you're pregnant.

Fertility Drugs

For women who are trying to conceive and who may be taking fertility drugs containing the pregnancy hormone hCG there may be a conflict in performing an early pregnancy test too soon. That is because if a woman already has hCG in her system, she may get a false positive result by taking a test designed to detect the early minute amounts of hCG.

If you are taking fertility drugs containing hCG, it would be better to wait at least a few days after your first missed period before taking an early pregnancy test. If you do decide to purchase a home pregnancy test kit, try to get one that doesn't advertise it as being the fastest pregnancy on the market. Rather, you need an early pregnancy test that requires a much larger concentration of hCG to be present in your body before it gives a positive result.

If you do get a positive result early on you're going to want to repeat the test a few days later. If you get a positive result again or at any time you think you are pregnant see your doctor right away.

Not a False Positive

Another reason to avoid taking an early pregnancy test is that many more embryos attach themselves to the uterine wall than stay attached. For whatever reason, 30-50% of those embryos that attach themselves to the wall of the uterus don't stay attached and are eliminated when the menstrual cycle starts.

Now this is nothing new. What is relatively new is that while this has always happened; now we may know when it does because of the early pregnancy test. Suppose we purchase a highly sensitive early pregnancy test that can tell we are pregnant with only the smallest amount of hCG present and then a couple of days later we get our period. Some women may just dismiss this as a false positive result and be disappointed but if a woman knows that an embryo actually attached itself to the wall of her uterus and then dislodged she will be devastated.

There are just times when it is better to follow the due course of things rather than try to rush everything. Trying to determine if you're pregnant before a period has even been missed may be trying to rush things a little too much. However, if you think you are pregnant see your doctor as soon as possible.
